The Benefit Gala for the ninth Kyoto Prize Symposium will be held in San Diego on April 20, 2010, to celebrate the 25th annual Kyoto Prize laureates and fund the 2010-2011 Kyoto Scholarships.

The black-tie Gala will serve as the distinguished opening ceremony for the 2010 Symposium, which continues through April 22 with free public lectures by the laureates at San Diego State University; University of California, San Diego; and University of San Diego.

The Gala will introduce the latest laureates of the Kyoto Prize and the lifelong contributions they have made toward the betterment of human society. In addition, the Gala will introduce the recipients of the 2010-2011 Kyoto Scholarships, which will be awarded to three students from San Diego County and three from greater Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. These Kyoto Scholarship recipients will enjoy the special privilege of meeting the 25th annual Kyoto Prize Laureates in person; each will also receive a college scholarship valued at up to $10,000 for the 2010-2011 academic year.
